Hazard Lights – Safety Indicator

A system dedicated to motor cars with e-drives. It indicates the state of safety of a car according to FIA requirements. The entire safety lamp system includes a main controller and hazard light indicators.

The main controller is a microprocessor system communicating with the car via a CAN BUS 2.0B line. The main function of the controller system is to collect the necessary information about the car, such as readiness to drive, power supply parameters, state of the communication line, condition of insulation, and to send appropriate signals to each of the connected LED lamps.

Hazard Safety Lamp – operation

In FIA hazard safety lamps, the lamp arrangement consists of two light fields. One field indicates that the car is ready to drive, and the other indicates the condition of the insulation. For front-mounted lamps, the car’s readiness should be indicated in white, whereas the rear-mounted lamp should illuminate in orange. Side lamps do not indicate the readiness to drive. In the case of indicating the condition of the insulation, a correct condition is indicated in green, whereas a fault is indicated in red flashing at 4 Hz. Red indicates alarm state — this colour is displayed on all Hazard Safety Lamps.
