Modular Energy Storage 3.5 kWh – domestic energy storage

Domestic energy storage is a solution for households with a PV system (panels). It allows for the storage of electricity produced in order to use it in the future, without the need to transfer it to an external grid.

With the capability to connect modules, modular energy storage can be set to a capacity of 3.5 kWh to 14 kWh.

  • Module TYP1 has a rated capacity of 3.5 kWh.
  • Module TYP2 has a rated capacity of 7 kWh.
  • Module TYP3 has a rated capacity of 10.5 kWh.
  • Module TYP4 has rated capacity of 14 kWh.

Merging 14 kWh storage into larger groups is possible as required.

Modular energy storage – performance

Small-size energy storage is prepared to operate under continuous loads equal to 1C (3.5 kW for a capacity of 3.5 kWh / 7 kW for 7 kWh / 14 kW for 14 kWh), and under instantaneous loads to 2C, which is important when there is equipment connected to a building’s electrical system that requires increased power at start-up.

Energy storage – application

Energy storage may be integrated to operate with such equipment as:

  • hybrid inverters for PV systems;
  • DC/AC converters acting as guaranteed sources of power supply (e.g. supplying central heating furnaces in buildings, cooling equipment in food establishments and in stores, home appliances and computers in homes and offices);
  • drives of machines with single-phase and three-phase supply.

With a portable docking station and an additional DC/AC converter installed, the energy storage may become a mobile source of energy, ensuring access to a power supply (230 V AC or 3×400 V AC). It can also be used, for instance, in recreational vehicles, during overhaul works to power machinery and equipment, and in many other applications. A list of equipment compatible with our energy storage is still being extended.

Domestic energy storage – method of installation

Owing to its compact design, a battery pack may be installed using a docking station provided on the building’s wall (in a garage/maintenance room). Such a method mitigates the risk of flooding and access of unauthorised persons (including children) and minimises the amount of space required for the installation of domestic energy storage.

Small-size energy storage — battery operation control

Battery operation is controlled by an advanced BMS (Battery Management System). The BMS supervising the energy storage is a product designed and manufactured by Elimen. It provides integration (communication) with any PV inverter adapted to operate with energy storage. In contrast to many other solutions available on the market, the BMS ensures smart control of battery operation. It is not only an analogue device used to emergency disconnect the power supply in the event of a deep discharge or overload of a battery. This is of essential importance for the safety of use and keeping the maximum service life of battery cells. The BMS is a microprocessor-based system. It runs continuous monitoring of operating conditions of the entire energy storage and allows for full diagnostics. It also enables energy storage monitoring via a computer or an application.
